Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Students,

My name is Lance Castonguay.    I am writing to introduce myself and give you some information that will help you support your child.

I have been a teacher in School District 43 since 1996.  For the past 3 years I have been teaching as a Faculty Associate for Professional Programs in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.  Prior to that I taught at Heritage Woods Secondary for 7 years, Gleneagle Secondary for 6 years, and Como Lake Junior and Middle for 2 years.  I am excited to be back teaching at Heritage Woods and working with your child.

I am committed to ensuring your child is provided with every opportunity to meet the learning outcomes and excel in their course.  With this goal in mind I have created some tools to support your child and keep you informed as to what we will be working on in class.   I have created a blog,  mrcastonguay.blogspot.ca which has daily updates for all my classes.  The blog includes information about what we are working on, the assignments and homework for the day.

The blog also has a link to engrade.com where I will post the marks for all assignments I collect online.  I will update these marks once a week.   Early next week your child will be bringing home a password for engrade.com.  You can login with this password and use it to keep track of your child’s progress from this point forward.    For those students and parents who do not speak English as their first Language and would prefer to view the blog in another language, I have put in a Google Translate Button at the bottom of the left menu bar.  This will convert all text in the blog to whichever language you choose from the drop down menu. I encourage all students to use the blog and welcome all parents to visit the blog and stay informed.

I will be available in room 215 for flex.

If there is anything I can do to support your child in their learning please feel free to contact me at the school or through my district email lcastonguay@sd43.bc.ca

I look forward to working with your child.
Thank you for your attention,

Lance Castonguay
